The Fuel Revolution that is Changing the World - and Us

OilPrice.com -- Colourless, odourless natural gas is changing the world geopolitically and economically in ways undreamed of even five years ago.

It is a giant upheaval of which President Obama is both the beneficiary and the victim. He benefits because low natural gas prices are helping consumers and industry. And he is undermined by them because the cheap gas is savaging his dreams of “green” energy alternatives with scads of jobs attached.

Pig Oil has a vested interest in hooking the public on NG. Oilprice.com is Pig Oil's mouthpiece.

If more vehicles are made for or converted to natural gas and the use of natural gas goes up, eventually the supply of natural gas goes down and the price for natural gas will go up. Just like the use of crude oil goes up, the supply goes down and the price of fuel at the pump goes up. Big oil will maintain its profits without regard to your well being or your possible economic problems.
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

With the US economy being in the dumpster, I don't think too many people care what the president and his Administration think about their golden plans for alternative energy, and we have seen plenty of examples of his failed plans where he dumped tons of our taxpayer money into companies which either vanished or went bankrupt. And the old promise of jobs is just more hot air, having been fairly well proven by now that those "green" energy companies and projects would only create a minimum of new jobs in the US, since much of the "green" products manufacturing would be off-shored.

The president is not the victim here as described in the article, we are!

The important thing barely mentioned in the article is that with domestic NG we can become more energy independent of our old Middle East suppliers and hopefully leave them and their never ending political problems behind. Yes the EU still needs to deal with them and Russia, but that's another matter.

Natural gas is good but it comes with a serious problem. Its main ingredient is methane, which is one of the worst pollutants, so allowing any of it to escape into the atmosphere unburned is bad.

As of a couple of years ago, there was a natural gas fueling station at San Jose airport. Anybody know if it is still there?

Natural gas = 75% methane. Not green.

No more subsidies for “green” energy alternatives paid for by the U.S. taxpayers!

The more we can learn to use natural gas in wiser ways, the less we will be so dependent on oil.

The use of natural gas as a fuel provides many jobs and does help the environment a great deal. The alleged green jobs are just that - ALLEGED.

What dark cave have these people been living in. Natural gas is nothing new and has been a staple fuel source for heating and cooking for the 70 years I have been on this earth. It died out a vehicle fuel several years back mainly because vehicles do not run near as well on natural gas as they do on gasoline or diesel. An engine designed to run strickly on natural gas could change that but the present conversions are not worth the effort. Hundreds of fleets in our area have changed back to gas and diesel fuel because it did not work out for the best and cheapest for fleet operations.

Green energy was always a pipe dream of the environmentalists. Let's use the natural gas that we have plenty of instead of wasting more money on fantasy energy.

I am not sure how much it is exactly changing the world or us. Plus, whatever is (maybe) changing might not be too permanent.

As my home is heated during the frigid winters here in northern Michigan any increase in demand will increase natural gas prices.

I wouldn't want a CNG fueled car. Now LNG or hydrate based NG storage would be OK as any released gas is cold enough or slow enough not to cause an explosion.

Clermont, I agree that we "must have infrastructure, or it matters little".

YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My opinion, as a society, investing in our infrastructure creates a future for our children, and their grandchildren.

I wouldn't write off the green revolution there will definitely be a place for it; you can't continually use carbon based fuels forever
