California gas prices hit all-time high as average soars to $4.61 a gallon

Associated Press --
It's a record, though just barely. The price of gasoline hit an all-time average high in California of $4.6140 a gallon Saturday, fueled by a reduced supply and a volatile market.

The record was set by a fraction of a penny, according to AAA spokesman Michael Green. The previous high was $4.6096 on June 19, 2008.

Prices throughout the state were expected to increase for several more days before leveling off, after a temporary reduction in supply triggered a price spike that saw fuming motorists paying $5 or more per gallon in some locations and station owners shutting down pumps in others.

AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge report released Saturday said the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded across California rose 12 cents from its Friday mark of about $4.49.

It's not big oil that is gouging Californias at the gas pump. Can you explore and find your own oil to rn your machines??? The policys and politics in this state are the bigger issue...problem. We want clean air and the easy solution is to have government regulate and dictate....at what expense?? Instead of letting the market take care of the need and allow the supply to be tapped into. Busnesses have been and still are being forced out of this state and at who's expense? We are about to loose any governement control in this state....the Democrates are about to take over the California Senate with two more seats geting close to absolute power!! Look out for higher taxes to pay for the debt this state has gotten into. More jobs in the energy sector might just produce more tax dollars too?!!!

California gas prices hit all-time high as average soars to $4.61 a gallon and coming soon to a neighborhood near you.
Big Oil continues to sell fuel and natural gas on the world market for higher prices, there will be NO price reduction for the cost of fuel or natural gas IN the US. 'Coming out of the closet' Fred's lousy, smoke and mirrors, lack of jobs, dog and pony show and in the crapper economy, the jobs are Not here. Fred's economy is not improving but continues to hurt the population and the job numbers continue to be down – no matter how smoooooth talking Fred spins those numbers! People will still drive and buy fuel no matter what but it sure helps to have a job too!
The US ‘oil and natural gas resources’ belong to the citizens of this country and are to be used by those same citizens! Speculators, manipulators and the banks continue to unfairly and unjustly make the driving public pay higher prices at the pump for their personal benefit.
How much will gas prices go up and they will rise, the trend is always up with fuel prices. The price at the pump needs to go down to $2/gallon, $3, $3.50/gallon or $4.00 is Not the new low!
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

coolhand:THE BEST THING THAT CAN HAPPEN IS GAS GOING TO 6.50 a gallon. THEN PEOPLE WILL GET SO PISS OFF, BEFORE THAT YOU GO TO THE MARKET AND FIND NO FOOD AT THE MARKET, TRUCKERS WILL STOP DRIVING WHEN Diesel GO TO OVER $6.00 a gallon.
BOTH PARTY'S ARE PLAYING WITH ALL OF US, BIG OIL HAS PAYED THEM OFF.
WE NEED TO DO WHAT THE TRUCKERS IN THE UK DID. THE TRUCKERS STOPPED ALL FUEL FROM GOING OUT OF THE REFINERIES IN THE UK, WITH IN A WEEK THE UK GOVERNMENT SET PRICES BACK $3.00 a gallon

You Cali's keep voting what you get...

coolhand:
US GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO TAKE OVER BIG OIL.

NO we need less Uncle Sam not more...

You pay higher gas prices because of higher taxes and Cali gas laws...

I lived in SoCali. in the 70-80S and left because of the prices/taxes...

At 10K, seriously? Gas prices hurt everyone! True, the movie stars probably don't care, but their staff, etc does. Lets get more, and newer, refineries going!

The treeHuggers/EPA do not want more refineries... Cali. voters, vote for the laws of greener everything... So if they are voting themselves back to horse and buggy...

The bigger the soup bowl the longer the line... At 16 trillion dollars you may run out of soup???

Some want bigger Gov. and some want smaller Gov. your one vote...

You play the NIMBY game long enough and throw CARB on top of it, you may just end up with no refineries and no gasoline.

because their voters don't know right from wrong .......so they keep voting people into office who abscond with their taxes.and? have no concerns for controlling gas prices.......because they can't line their pockets if they don't collect more gas taxes. all they have to do is park their vehicles on the highways til the prices come down.

those in lala land could care less-they make $10 million or better per movie, and they love their socialist president, so their "car-care provider" can easily afford $5/gallon..
