BP, Shell and Vitol eyeing US crude exports to Canada

Reuters -- Oil major BP Plc has secured U.S. government permission to ship U.S. crude oil to Canada, and Royal Dutch Shell has applied for an export license, as rising production in the world's top oil consumer upends global energy flows.

A surge in output from shale oil reserves in the Bakken of North Dakota and Eagle Ford of Texas has raised U.S. domestic production to the highest level since 1995.

While the United States still imports more than 8 million barrels of crude oil per day, a glut of light, sweet crude oil created by the controversial hydraulic fracturing or 'fracking' boom could fetch higher prices on international markets.

What crap, Canada does not need any and the Bakken fields are mostly under Canadian soil anyway and Canada is drawing from those fields every day.

We need to keep the oil here in the USA rather than import it to other countries so we can keep prices down.

Yet the prices at the pumps doesn't come down.

Remind me: just what WAS the price of gas in 1995???

Something smells rotten here.

First we need a pipeline to bring oil from Canada to US

Now we are wanting to send oil to Canada?

Great. So we pay more to have oil imported. They should not be allowed to export as long as we have to import oil.

"...has raised U.S. domestic production to the highest level since 1995."

So President Obama is doing everything he can to keep our oil industry from producing domestic oil...

"US crude to Canada, and Canadian crude to Texas, makes sense too me"

The oil companies are all about keeping prices as high as possible... everywhere.
Canadian oil that's about to be piped to Texas will be shipped to Asian markets, NOT for sale within the U.S.
Yet, Canadians, who already pay a LOT more than their U.S. neighbours, will be paying a premium for crude oil fracked-out from N.D.?

It's time our countries had energy policies that took control of it's own resources instead of allowing private corporations to hold us hostage to our own resources and ruining our economies for THEIR record profits.

Somebody needs to have there head examined
The US imports oil from Canada, and now we are going to export oil to Canada

I have an idea use the same trucks it will save fuel by not having trucks make the return trip empty
