To IndyOutRider....we have stations here that are like that. It's a precaution to the Station in case of drive-off's....and if you're using a debit card. You have to let the tendant know ahead of time that you may be going over $50 and they will instruct you as what to do

VERY limited income, and prices of gas goes up faster than it drops. I can only put in gas once a month. That's usually when the prces are highest when I get my check

Many of the grocery fuel point/reward gimmicks limit you to a certain gallon volume when you cash in your chips. Bi-Lo's is 20 gallons. That's what keeps me from filling up most often.

Not enough money and sometimes i have to go in to prepay, due to no card reader at the pump. If i have to go in, i normally buy a coffee while in the store.

I put just enough in the tank to get me there
That way I don't have to use excess energy
Hauling all that gas around. It works, more
Stops to gas station ... The only bad side effect

I'm an optimist, so I always expect gas prices to fall in the near future. Thus, I usually do a partial fillup due to my optimistic expectations.

Just really running low on gas and need to have some to get by. Main reason is gas prices are too high. Waiting till it get down a bit to have a full tank.

The price at my favourite station had just spiked unexpectedly in the evening (different from the usual morning commute spike), and I had the misfortune of needing gas at that moment - so I put $20 in and waited for the fill-up until the prices were back down. It worked - they were back down the next day.

As for prepayment "convenience" - prepayment is a pain in the a**. I like to fill up the tank completely, so I know exactly how much gas I have. When driving long distances in the country between gas pumps, this is an important safety practice. The first time I went to a pre-pay place, I told the clerk I wanted a fill-up but didn't know how much to pre-pay, and he said with a smirk "don't you know the size of your tank?" - could've smacked him. Obviously unless the tank's running on fumes, you don't know exactly how much space there is. [rant over]

Fortunately, most places now let you pre-pay more than you need, and only charge you for what you actually use.

Even If I did have the money, I don't want to fill up completely. Gas is so high now I consider it an INVESTMENT, I don't want a gas thief stealing that much from me while I sleep!

Prices at all the station near my home were all too high. It seems without fail that when holidays are near such in this case, Labor Day, that all the sudden prices rice. what is up with that??????. There should be some type of regulation.

It's hard to plan anything when you never know when prices are going to go up. I like using gas buddy because it gives us heads up!!

Price at that particular station was unreasonably high. Preferred to just get enough gas to last a little while until I could get to a station where prices are usually a lot more reasonable.

My major problem Y I wouldn't fill my tank all the way would be, Price to high like most here, or just don't use the one vehicle (weekend toy) as mush, don't want a lot of fuel going bad.
