The first quarter results didn't matter all that much. The Z10 was released late March towards the end of Q1. Although the international market had the phone for awhile, the US is the flagship phone market to aim for. Needless to say, I'd say Q2, and Q3 with the BB Q10 release should be more indicative of whether RIMM dies, or not.

I'm really enjoying my Z10, although I'd agree with most that it was too little too late. Maybe they have something going with bringing BBM to all platforms, but I'm not holding my breath.

I think the main thing going for it, is that most BB owners have money, and there isn't a phone on the market as secure as BB. As long as those owners actually shop often on the app store, I think this will bring a lot of developers over and get some decent applications for the phone. After all, iOS didn't have that much of an app store when they started, neither did android.

I think it's going to take a full year to see if the company can be taken off life support.

Quote by "Rather Bike" post:

"The rally in RIM shares was sparked by National Bank analyst Kris Thompson, who boosted his price target on RIM shares to $15 from $12. Thompson believes that there is more money to be made in the stock ahead of the early 2013 launch of the make-or-break new line of devices."

Financial Analysts have no idea what they are talking about, especially those working for the banks! There is a very high likelihood that analysts working for such financial institutions are in conflict, as the bank will be profiting on the sale of the stocks the analysts are quoting as a "good buy". Its like a doctor prescribing a drug that the drug companies are paying him/her a kick back on per prescription......and it does happen quite often, despite regulation.

But in the simplest terms, you should ask yourself this question whenever a stock broke/analyst/investor wannabe states in any form of media that a stock is a "good buy"......

IF THIS GUY KNOWS SOOO MUCH ABOUT INVESTING AND MARKET TRENDS, WHY ARE THEY STILL WORKING?????

A great investor would be on a tropical island they bought enjoying the rays......and the last thing on their mind would be recommending to you what to buy, unless they were profiting from it so that they could buy a second tropical island.

THINK ABOUT IT!

So, you are asking if BBRY (aka RIMM)is done yet? Perhaps you may wish to ask the fool who invested in the 1%er when it was at $150 per share in 2008.

http://www.marketwatch.com/investing/stock/BBRY

BBRY is done at $13.74 currently.

So, lets put the rubber to the road and really talk about how screwed up the typical investor is.

Value of 1000 shares in 2008: $150,000
Value of 1000 shares in 2013: 13,740
Total Pension Fund Loss 2013: ($136,260)

Now that's great investing!

Those of you that held BBRY stock just threw away your future, your childen's future and the future of your country's pension safety net......and the 1%er's who sold their BBRY stock and profited from it in 2008 through insider trading are laughing at you!!!!!

Just remember, you are what you invest in.....in this case, you are a dud.......LOL!

Live and learn!

From the Vancouver Sun:

By: Euan Rocha

Shares of Re-search In Motion Ltd. surged 17.3 per cent in Toronto on Thursday on rising optimism around RIM’s soon-to-be-launched BlackBerry 10 devices that will vie against Apple’s iPhone and Android-based smartphones.

The rally in RIM shares was sparked by National Bank analyst Kris Thompson, who boosted his price target on RIM shares to $15 from $12. Thompson believes that there is more money to be made in the stock ahead of the early 2013 launch of the make-or-break new line of devices.

It was the second vote of confidence this week for the Canadian company, which has struggled to compete with the iPhone and with devices running on Google’s market-leading Android operating system. On Tuesday, Jefferies & Co analyst Peter Misek, who has been one of RIM’s most influential critics, raised his rating and price target on the stock.

RIM shares, which have now risen in the last seven straight trading sessions, rose to their highest level since May on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Thursday and ended the day at $12. It was the biggest percentage gain in the stock since April 2009, when RIM shares rallied after the company’s results topped market expectations.

Thompson, who has an “outperform” rating on RIM stock, said he raised his price target due partly to the “positive sentiment building in the industry” ahead of BB10's launch.

“The new management team is executing by maintaining the BlackBerry subscriber base, managing costs and cash, and seemingly readying a February 2013 BB10 global platform launch,” he said in a note to clients.

Earlier this week, Misek said a favourable reaction from telecom carriers to the new devices and the BB10 operating system that runs them was behind his decision to lift his rating and price target on RIM.

RIM, a smartphone pioneer, hopes BB10 will rescue it from a prolonged slump. RIM shares peaked at over $148 in 2008 before diving more than 90 per cent.

just as a gadget nerd, rimm has been DOA in technological relevance for
years. if you own stock, you should have dumped them years ago.

the only way for their prices to rebound is if they integrate with
android and the android marketplace. in all seriousness, rimm at the
very least could have made a trying effort like nokia did, as the ship sank.
