I saw a GEICO commercial during the AutoZone Liberty Bowl on ESPN, and it featured a bearded violinist. The violinist must be country-and-western star Charlie Daniels. Am I right?

I have it on high authority that a violin and a fiddle are the same instrument, used specifically for different types of music appreciation, such as the violin for opera and the fiddle for foot-stomping hoedowns.

Nah. Charlie Daniels is a fiddler, not a violinist.

At the beginning of the commercial, the announcer is shown on camera and he mentions Charlie Daniels by name.
