I have an old Dell Inspiron laptop - circa 2004 - that I use as a backup and to check email when all our other computers are in use - it has recently started having a weird video problem - basically after it boots and is loading up, the screen goes dark. I took it to the office and plugged it in to an extra monitor and it worked fine - brought it home and had the same problem. Any ideas? I'd hate to just dump it because I have some databases I built using Filemaker. But it is too old to spend a lot getting it fixed.
