Realize that a 1.9 million "build" in gasoline inventories is the equivalent of a 4.1 million barrel increase in the crude oil inventory, in the absense of a drop in consumption. And it should result in a 9 million barrel increase in distillates, in the absence of changes in consumption.

These statistics are not really relevant to the price paid at the gas pumps by the average driver.

he-eey, what happened to supply and demand?
when we're low on supplies, the prices are high
now that there's more than ample supplies, why aren't prices dropping?

Seeing how inventories were expected to drop anywhere from 1.5 million barrels to 2 million barrels, someone made a 2.5 to 3 million barrel mistake. Guess you can't believe anyone any more.

Greenfog, thought you might like a definition of "expert" from years ago: An "ex" is a has been, and a "spert" is a drip under pressure. Kind of fits govt groups today.

when the inventories go up why doesn't the price at the pump go down? when the inventories drop by any amount the price at the pump shoots up faster than the inventory status can be reported? we either are being lied to by the DOE Report or the oil companies are price gouging, which is it?

Crude remains in an uptrend, unless $74.50/bbl is taken out to the downside.

All these bits of information do not seem to support what is going on at the pump price. They do what they want and then try to justify it by numbers. Who audits the numbers???

Inventories up and demand down means the price of gas should fall . . . if it was controlled by market forces that is.

Inventory reports tell us nothing. unless you know when taken and what other items had an effect. Was production down for a reason. Maintenance or lower demand. Just to know production was down means nothing.
