After the huge Gulf spill, it was expected more drilling would not be approved by our governmental agencies until safety measures were improved and in place. There were some promises, but no real improvements, and the drilling was approved anyway. So, it is somewhat surprising, and encouraging, that a line for safety is being held now. (Just my opinion)

If the Feds held airlines to these insane standards being imposed on Shell, no airplane would ever get off the ground.
Or another comparison - there's far more risk from poorly maintained vehicles running up and down I5 at breakneck speeds in WA, OR, and CA - the EPA / father big Gov. should get those heaps off the road.

Shell & the Coast Guard shall work together to fix everything in time for the narrow window for drilling. Unless of course the Coast Guard certification delay is order from the top.

The Coast Guard says it believes problems delaying the barge can be corrected in time for the drilling window, expected to start in early August.
